BALDWIN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A second alligator has been found in a Baldwin supermarket parking lot.
A 2- to 3-foot gator was found in the parking lot of a Pathmark store around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, police said. A second alligator measuring 3-4 feet was found in the same lot Wednesday afternoon, WCBS 880′s Sophia Hall reported.
Before the second alligator was found, the Nassau County SPCA announced it was offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for releasing the alligator.
Responding officers were able to capture the reptiles and turned them over to the county’s Emergency Services Unit.
Anyone with information on how the gators ended up in the parking lot should call the Nassau County SPCA at 516-THE-SPCA or email crueltystoppers@ncspca.us.

Authorities said it is likely someone dumped both gators in the grocery store parking lot. The two alligators will be sent to Florida to live at a reptile sanctuary, Hall reported.
Some shocked shoppers reacted to news of the second gator.
“I think it’s horrible. Scary and horrible,” one woman told Hall.
“Nothing surprises me anymore,” a man said.
This is the third gator spotting on Long Island in less than a week.
Last Friday, an alligator was found crawling on the front lawn of a home in Mastic Beach.
The homeowner managed to capture the 2-foot critter in a plastic bin. It was initially taken to a nearby pet shop and then moved to Jungle Bob’s in Centereach.
Then on Monday, a Brooklyn couple was charged with harboring a prohibitive animal in New York City when officers found a 3.5-foot gator in the couple’s home while executing a search warrant.
