Horrifying footage captured on an elevator surveillance camera has revealed how a man savagely kicked a dog over and over again after entering an East Harlem housing project.
The New York Police Department released the video calling anyone who might know the offender to speak up and identify the man.
After brutally attacking the defenseless dog by kicking it repeatedly in the gut and slapping it around the face while it cowered in the corner of the lift, the man is being sought for charges of animal cruelty.
The appalling onslaught began seconds after the man entered a lift at The Wagner Houses on 1st Avenue and 120th Street on August 26th.
Though the man appears to enter the building in daylight, the police have placed the incident at around 11.30 pm.
As he enters the building he already look agitated with the dog, kicking it once before walking into the lift.
The minute the doors close and he selects his floor, the violence intensifies in spades.
Wearing a dark red Aeropostale T-shirt and what appears to be a San Francisco Giants baseball cap, the attacker taunts the dog, at one point raising his arm as if to strike with his hand, before continuing his torturous kicking.
Leaning over the dog after a series of blows from the foot, he presses his finger to his mouth seemingly telling the dog to stop making noise.
Then he kicks it some more before the video is cut off.
The Wagner House residents are not unfamiliar with media attention having made headlines as recently as August when a gang-related drug ring was allegedly broken up by authorities.
19 members of the Flow Boyz and 20 BLOCC, were arrested with charges that they held the neighborhood ‘hostage’ for three years while they dealt cocaine.
Anyone who may have information about the man in this video has been urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
