JOLIET, Ill. — A 63-pound Labrador retriever named Jackson is receiving an honor for service to Will County children who are alleged victims of abuse.

State’s Attorney James Glasgow presented Jackson and owner Cheri Johnson with a medal this week on behalf of the Stone City Kennel Club. The club recognized the work of 14 dogs that assist the community.

The three-year-old Jackson greets children at the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center. He plays with them before and after law enforcement officials interview the children about allegations of sexual or physical abuse.

Glasgow established the center in 1995 to provide a neutral, non-suggestive, child-friendly environment for the sensitive investigations.

Johnson is Glasgow’s administrative assistant and makes Jackson available free of charge.
