A police dog that escaped a yard in Roseville on Wednesday night when it became spooked by fireworks has been located.

The German shepherd, Ivo, who works for the Santa Clara Police Department, jumped a fence at a home in the Roseville area at around 9 p.m. after his handler let him outside to relieve himself just as fireworks exploded nearby. On Thursday afternoon, a resident of the area who found him and kept him overnight brought him to the Placer SPCA, and the dog and its handler have been reunited, said Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther.

“The SPCA had been on the lookout for him. He was positively identified, so we have a happy ending,” she said.
