East Tennessee family members of a 5-year-old boy mauled to death by a wolf-dog hybrid in Michigan want lawmakers to ban the breed in Tennessee.
Court records show Kyle Holland was attacked in his bed last year by a family dog, and died from the severe injuries he sustained, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Tom Wood, coordinator of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s law enforcement program, says wolf-dog hybrids are not allowed in Michigan, but are not outlawed in Tennessee.
Kyle’s mother and her boyfriend face charges in connection with his death.
Maryville resident Tiffany Dailey is Kyle’s cousin.
After the criminal case is completed, she said she plans to write Tennessee lawmakers in an attempt to outlaw wolf-dog hybrids in the state.
