DENVER –- A 5-year-old Rottweiler named ‘Bomber’ is missing an eye, but is otherwise on the mend after a mishap involving a nail gun.
Nick Wise says he came home from work on Sept. 3 and immediately noticed his four-legged pal was squinting.
After taking a closer look, Wise noticed a 3.5-inch nail was stuck in Bomber’s right eye. Veterinarians performed emergency surgery at the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado in Englewood and removed the nail.
“The nail penetrated the eye and ruptured the lens and could not be saved, so it was removed,” said spokeswoman Audrey Strong.
Wise, who lives in a duplex, says the adjoining house is undergoing construction.
He believes a neighbor accidentally shot Bomber with a nail gun while working on a fence.
