HALIFAX — Three Halifax-area teenagers have been accused of attacking a police dog and its handler.
The RCMP said Monday that officers with the force and Halifax Regional Police were responding Saturday night to reports of car break-ins in Lower Sackville.
Police located three suspects and two of them fled and were pursued.
The suspects were tracked to a wooded area off Kaye Street where police said the dog and its handler were attacked.
Three Lower Sackville males — ages 14, 15 and 16 — are all facing numerous charges of theft, assaulting police, resisting arrest and trespassing at night.
Two of the teens have been released from custody.
The 15-year-old is to appear in Halifax youth court on Aug. 11 while the 14-year-old is scheduled for Aug. 25.
The 16-year-old was remanded and is to appear in court Tuesday.
