Dog was found in a tub in Virginia Beach
It’s a far cry from where she was found abandoned inside of a tub in the Green Lakes section of the city.
Police say the woman found the tub in front of some mailboxes. At first she thought it was trash until she looked inside and that’s when she found the dog.
“We have absolutely no idea when this dog was left at that curb. The puppy’s very fortunate someone heard it and saw it and took it in,” says Virginia Beach spokesperson Tonya Brown.
Borman says they aren’t sure how long the dog had been there but they say with the scorching temps it’s a miracle the dog’s in good condition. She’s a little underweight but overall healthy.
“The heat index is very high and it doesn’t take much for an animal left in a container without any food or water. It wouldn’t take much to perish,” says Borman.
Now investigators are trying to find her owner.
Although they’re investigating this as an animal cruelty case, Borman says their main concern right now is finding out more about the dog and why she was abandoned.
“Our biggest thing is we can to reach out to them and help them,” says Borman. She adds, “If you have identity of the dog or the owner of the dog we ask that you call in”.
If you know anything call the Crime-Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
As for the dog she isn’t ready for adoption, but if you are interested in meeting her once she is contact the Virginia Beach Animal Control shelter.
